The value of the non-refundable financing: 215.015,58 Euro
The project was launched on 19th of June 2014, in a lovely atmosphere and in the presence of 73 persons. Amongst the participants, there were project’s beneficiaries, operators, representatives from the partner schools and city halls, honored guests of the local institutions (Dolj County Council, Dolj Prefecture, Dolj General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection, Dolj County School Inspectorate, General Directorate of Sport, OIR- POSDRU, World Vision, Euro Protector, Dolj Bar) as well as representatives of local media. During the event, the participants received detailed information regarding the project’s objectives, planned activities, guides and none the less estimated impact.
Romanian project’s operators are Civil Society Development Foundation (CSDF) in partnership with Environmental Partnership Foundation (EPF) and Resource Centre for Roma Communities (RCRC). Main partners and also project’s planers are Adina Stiftelsen Foundation from Romania and Stiftelsen Kirkens Bymisjon from Bergen, Norway.
The primary objective of project “I, An Oltenia-Based Peasant, Need An Education!” is to implement two new concepts for rural children of Romania, and that are „Apen Barnehage” and „Home Start”.
„Apen Barnehage”(Open Kindergarten) programme means organizing common educational activities with children –parents- educators. The purpose of the activities is to strengthen the child-parent relationship as they “play” in a safe and informal environment under the guidance of a specialized educator. The parents must understand the importance of these informal activities on a child’s emotional, social and educational development, and participate actively.
“Home Start” programme is a complementary service and means offering family support and parental counsel. The target is to train ten volunteers to offer assistance for parents, regarding: the parent role, resolving practical issues relating to having small children, the need for a stress-free time and if needed, advices for communicating and socializing.
This project represented a new challenge for members of Adina Stiftelsen Foundation because they had to plan and carry out activities, based on which it will be established the possibility of implementing the two concepts for children of Romanian rural environment.
„This event marks a new stage in Adina Stiftelsen Foundation’s activity. Through this financial support, we will be able to raise the number of beneficiaries coming to the foundation’s activities and offer the chance for an education to a larger amount of children” declared Luminita Dinca, manager of Adina Stiftelsen Foundation Craiova.
Representatives of local institutions recognized the importance and effectiveness of this project as they showed their support for organizing the project’s activities, as well as for future collaborations.
Mr. Gheorghe Barbarasa, secretary of Dolj County Council, expressed his admiration for Adina Stiftelsen Foundation’s initiatives and assured its members of CC’s support, while launching an invitation for foundation’s members to join in Dolj Social Assistance Institution’s programmes: „It is delightful that you try to develop these activities for the benefit of children”.
Together with its Norwegian partners, Adina Stiftelsen Foundation runs a series of educational oriented programmes for children in rural areas, and their significance is acknowledged by the beneficiaries.
Alexandru Godeanu, eleven grade student at “Ștefan Velovan” Craiova National College, a beneficiary of the after-school programme initiated by the foundation in Goiești since 2008, revealed the foundation’s significance for him: „ Adina Stiftelsen Foundation was like a second family to me, an instrument for new horizons and new objectives. The essence of the foundation is preparing children to go further, and I am grateful to foundation’s members for all I have gained during this time, thanks to them. It is crucial to be honest; this is something I learned here”.
The message of the event and this is something we should all think about, comes from Luminita Dinca manager of Adina Stiftelsen Foundation Romania: „Social involvement should not be a choice, it’s a responsibility for each of”. An advice meant to touch and move each of us to actively participate in community’s problems.
The event was a success and local media made important news out of it. (Craiova Forum, Digi 24 Craiova television - the show "Volunteer by profession" / 23.06.2014 “I, an Oltenia-Based Peasant, Need an Education!”)
