Starting with 1st June 2015 the project team initiated the implementation of Open Kindergarten concept in Goiești commune, county Dolj.
Before they carried out any activities it was necessary that parents of children from the local kindergartens understand what Open Kindergarten means.
During 2 informative meetings, parents or legal representatives of children received many information regarding the origin of this concept- where it comes from and what it offers, the type of activities included, the way in which activities will be organized and last but not least the positive outcomes observed in groups where this concept has already been implemented.
To know and help the beneficiaries, teachers came up with a questionnaire for evaluating the needs of each family. All parents and legal representatives who wanted to participate in the new programme have completed this questionnaire. These proved to be very useful to teachers who were able to organize their activities so that they could solve group problems but also individual family problems.
The proper practical activities with parents and children started on 15th of June 2015. A total number of 44 participants, 22 children accompanied by one of the parents or the legal representative came at the activities twice a week.
The activities had positive effects on everyone involved and the results became visible very quickly. Both children and parents or legal representatives were open minded to teacher's proposals, participated actively in the activities and fully enjoyed the time spent together. Children were very enthusiastic about play activities and very happy when they felt the care and attention from their parents. Even parents who appeared a bit skeptical at the beginning of the programme, opened up throughout the activities seeing children's reactions and realizing how important is the time spent with them.
Also, the relationship between parents and teachers changed during the activities, they developed a better communication and strengthened the bond of collaboration and mutual support.
The outcomes from Goiești community were satisfying, the programme's success being evaluated through the large number of participants and their involvement in the process. This type of activities have valuable results for beneficiaries but also for the community because it completes the social services offered by the local authorities.
