instruire open kindergarten

Starting from an early age, children must be involved in many educational activities which will help them develop their intellectual, social and emotional abilities. Teachers and parents must work together at this stage to ensure the child's harmonious development.

Unfortunately in Romania, parents' daily struggles, most often related to lack of money, restricts them from offering their children the care and attention they need. Although the Romanian educational system values the importance of early education along side parents involvement, there are no activities in which educators can work with both parents and children.

Open Kindergarten concept engages parents, children and teachers in “play” activities that will strengthen the child-parent relationship. One objective of project “I, An Oltenia-Based Peasant, Need An Education!”  was to borrow and implement this concept in Romania.

The work visits organized throughout the project offered partners the possibility to share their knowledge and experience but also to learn new information necessary for adapting and implementing Open Kindergarten concept in Romanian kindergartens.

A work visit took place during 22nd to 29th of April 2015. Over the 7 days visit, Norwegian experts worked together with 3 Romanian kindergarten teachers and gave them the ground base theoretical knowledge on how to organize and carry out the Open Kindergarten activities. At the end of the course, the 3 educators received a certificate that proves their competence in practising their knowledge.

The work visit had positive effects for the partners. The Norwegian experts got a better understanding of the Romanian educational context including the obstacles which may appear in implementing this type of activities but they also provided important insights on how to overcome these obstacles and adapt the concept to Romanian kindergartens. The Romanian teachers gained new expertise that will help them apply Open Kindergarten concept in the kindergartens where they work but most importantly they understood the benefits that these activities have on children and parents.

The visits was a success for both partners and it was finalized with a report containing impressions, general observations, recommendation and conclusions regarding the adaptation and implementation of  Open Kindergarten(Gradinita Deschisa) concept in Romania.
