As a response to the increased risk of school abandonment at the national level and within the European Union context of reducing the school abandonment up to 10% until 2020, Adina Stiftelsen Foundation will implement the project entitled “I, an Oltenia-Based Peasant, Need an Education”, whose aim is to maintain in the educational system at least 220 children from Goiești and Fărcaș, Dolj.
The results of the project mainly aim quantitative and qualitative changes concerning the educational services and the parental counselling services, including testing two new concepts in Romania - “Open Kindergarten” and „Home Start”.
The target group will be made of the triad children – parents – teachers:
• 88 preschool children
• 140 school children (primary and secondary school) – out of whom at least 20 Roma children
• At least 20 families (particularly the 20 Roma children’s parents)
• 10 volunteers
• 10 teachers/educators
The activities are integrated in a 4 components strategy:
Component 0: Organization and promoting
Expected result: partnerships and the agreement of all the parts involved which can contribute to the fulfilment of the aims.
Component 1: Educational services for kindergarten children
Expected result: 88 preschool children registered in 2014 and still being part of the educational system at the end of December 2015 and 2 teachers trained for applying the Apen Barnehage concept.
Component 2: Educational services for school children
Expected result: 140 school children registered in 2014 and still being part of the educational system at the end of December 2015 and 8 trained teachers.
Component 3: Parental Counselling Services
Expected result: 20 parents counselled in order to provide a family climate favorable to eliminate the risk of school abandonment and 10 volunteers trained for applying the Home Start concept.
