The educational and recreational after school activities planned during “I, an Oltenia-Based Peasant, Need an Education!” project went on in Goiești, Țandăra and Fărcaș communities. 42 activities are organized every week in the 3 communities. A total number of 140 children participate constantly: 70 children at Goiești school, 50 children at Țandăra School and 20 children at Fărcaș School.

Teachers have encouraged children to get involve and actively participate in the activities and children  have shown creative and original thinking by always coming up with new ideas.

„Alternative” activities to the ones organized in school have been carried out during the summer holiday. For each week we set a certain theme: informal activities; arranging a play ground for preschool children; Romanian week; Gipsy week; eco-friendly- recycling materials and cleaning public spaces; visit the local entrepreneurs; volunteer week.

Beneficiary children were delighted with these activities; not only that a large number of children participated but they got emotionally involved in the projects coming up with new ideas and celebrating every positive result of their work. These activities have influenced the development of children's communication abilities as they built good relationships with volunteers and associates of Adina Stiftelsen Foundation. Also, children gained new knowledge in many aspects, like: the importance of protecting the environment, appreciating national traditions and gipsy traditions, how to make certain products, the importance of being involved in the community and of  civic spirit.

During the week of arranging a play ground for preschool children, the beneficiary children worked together to built a sand ground for their smaller colleagues. Children along with their parents and together with foundation's employees and representatives of local authorities have participated in this activity. Each had a small input but it turned out a wonderful play ground. Goiesti City Hall provided the sand transportation and mechanical digging when needed. Parents helped with the digging and arranging the ground and children painted recycled tyres which they used as protection or limits or turned them into funny animals, zebras and giraffes.

The Romanian week was dedicated to knowing and promoting the Romanian traditional culture. Children participated at video or power point presentations where they learned about traditional practices, the national costume and traditional art objects. Also, they had the opportunity to see some historic movies. During creative activities children made several Romanian traditional objects like: string dolls and traditional pots. Learning traditional dancing was the most successful activity  amongst children. They have enjoyed themselves very much during dance classes because they spent their time together in a good environment but also because they learned new things. Traditional Ie parade where children got dressed in their grandparents traditional blouses was another activity that children enjoyed.

During Romany traditional week children participated at Romany culture presentations and saw artistic movies ( Satra) about gipsy traditions. Children were very enthusiastic about traditional gipsy dance lessons. Seeing how happy children were about these activities we intent to make traditional gipsy costumes and develop this activity further.

The activities of recycling and cleaning the public spaces from beneficiary communities were organized during ecology week. Children learned how important is to take care and clean the environment. Also, they spoke about how important is to recycle and children were amazed to see the things that can be made from materials that they normally consider as garbage. Guided by teachers, children made decorative flowers from plastic bottles and crayons cups from toilet paper's cardboard tube.

Cleaning the green spaces near Amaradia river had the biggest impact on children, who found it difficult to understand why people from their village use the river banks to drop tones of garbage or why people who make barbecues there do not clean after themselves. In less than an hour children gathered 30 bags with plastic bottles. The week ended with discussions regarding community involvement and civic spirit.

During thematic visits week, children went to see some small businesses from the community: a small plastic factory who uses recycling waste as their main raw material and a greenhouse complex that produces flowers and seeds. Children understood that if we care, respect and work the field, we will have the necessary means of living.
