Project: “I, an Oltenia-Based Peasant, Need an Education!”
Project funded by SEE 2009-2014 Grants, within Romania NGO Fund
The value of the non-refundable financing: 215.015,58 Euro
Starting with June 2014, the educational and recreational activities organized during “I, an Oltenia-Based Peasant, Need an Education!” project took place in Goiești and Farcas.
To reach the proposed number of beneficiaries, more children from the communes were selected to participate at the after-school activities. Overall, weekly there are organized 25 educational activities, in which regularly participate 140 children.
All after school activities took place inside partner schools, in a safe and relaxed environment for children. Many of the organized activities concentrated on enriching theoretical knowledge of children, exercise practical abilities as well as developing physical aptitudes. Beneficiary children gladly and actively participated at the activities because they had the possibility to choose what they wanted to do. The workshops were meant to be attractive and fun but also informative and useful.
Learning activities, which were organized for children, provided help with homework and English classes for beginners. Practical activities meant: clay and fimo shaping, weaving, crafting handmade jewelry, drawing, glass painting and many others. Physical exercises, football and dancing are some of the proposed sport activities.
Sport store Decathlon supported some of the sport activities that took place. The football team from Goiești trained on the store’s field and participated at the store’s football championship where they took 4th place.
Traditional dancing is another physical activity popular amongst beneficiary children from Goiești. A part of these form Folk Group “Sălcioara”. Thanks to the financial support received through “I, an Oltenia-Based Peasant, Need an Education!” project, the group participated on 25th of November 2014 at „Gugulan cu car cu mere” International Festival, in Caransebeș, where they took 2nd place.
The project’s activities are important for beneficiary children’s development because through these, they gain knowledge and abilities but also because they are encouraged to express themselves free and creative. Activities’ results are appreciated by everybody, and this offers children more confidence in their own strength while shaping their personality and self-esteem.
