Gaining new knowledge and exchange experience between the partners Adina Stiftelsen Foundation and Adina Stiftelsen Norway where amongst the most important objectives of the project “I, an Oltenia-Based Peasant, Need an Education!”

During 2nd to 7th of November 2014, 5 Romanian experts participated at a work visit in Bergen, Norway. The Romanian delegation wanted to gather as many information as possible regarding the way in which practical activities are organized and carried out in Norwegian schools. The Norwegian partners provided varied leaning opportunities by planning work visits at regular schools and schools for students with special learning needs.

During the visit made at Saelen Elementary School the Romanian experts participated at activities for children aged 5 and 6. The teachers from the Norwegian school have demonstrated learning methods that are designed to include and involve all children. Also, they have explained to their Romanian colleagues the importance of working as a team in achieving the goals. For example, basic abilities like reading and writing have to be mastered by every single child in their first year in school so all teachers from that schoolwork together to make sure that this happens.

Following the visit, the two teachers from the Romanian delegation planned to use the new methods during the activities they have with beneficiaries of foundation’s programs.

The visit turned out to be useful for the Romanian team as they recognized the benefits and efficiency of methods used in Saelen School. Furthermore, they all expressed their believe that these methods could be successfully implemented in schools and after school programs in Romania.

The second work visit was at Alrekstad school – a special needs school and a competence centre for VIII to X grade students, who mostly due to social challenges, have difficulties adapting in a regular school. This was another positive experience for the Romanian team who had the opportunity to observe techniques of working with both students and parents and well as to receive advices and recommendations about communication methods.

Alrekstad school board has shown their openness and availability to support the transfer of competence and methods that could be implemented by Romanian teachers in schools where Adina Stiftelsen Foundation implements activities.
